AICTE Pragati Scholarship 2026 for Girl Students: ₹50,000 Annual Aid for Degree and Diploma Courses

New Delhi. : The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has opened applications for the Pragati Scholarship Scheme for Girl Students for the 2026 academic year. The scheme provides financial assistance to eligible girl students pursuing technical degree and diploma programmes at AICTE-approved institutions.

Applications for both the degree and diploma scholarship schemes opened on June 1, 2026, and eligible students can apply through the National Scholarship Portal (NSP) until October 31, 2026.

AICTE Pragati Scholarship for Degree Students

The Pragati Scholarship Scheme for Girl Students (Degree) is available to female students admitted to the first year of a technical degree course or the second year through lateral entry at an AICTE-approved institution.

Eligibility for Degree Scholarship

To apply, candidates must meet the following conditions:

• The student must be a girl admitted to the first year of a degree-level course or the second year through lateral entry.
• The institution must be approved by AICTE for the relevant academic year.
• A maximum of two girl children per family can receive the scholarship.
• The total annual family income from all sources must not exceed ₹8 lakh during the current financial year.
• Applicants must submit a valid income certificate issued by the concerned State or Union Territory Government.

Scholarship Amount for Degree Courses

Selected students will receive ₹50,000 per year as a lump-sum scholarship.

The scholarship is available for:

• Up to four years for students admitted to the first year.
• Up to three years for students admitted to the second year through lateral entry.

The amount can be used towards expenses such as college fees, computers, books, stationery, equipment and software. No separate amount will be provided towards hostel or medical expenses.

AICTE Pragati Scholarship for Diploma Students

AICTE is also offering the Pragati Scholarship Scheme for Girl Students (Technical Diploma) for students entering technical diploma programmes.

Candidates must be admitted to the first year of a diploma course or the second year through lateral entry at an AICTE-approved institution.

Eligibility for Diploma Scholarship

The eligibility conditions include:

• The applicant must be a girl student admitted to the first year of a diploma course or the second year through lateral entry.
• The course must be offered by an AICTE-approved institution.
• A maximum of two girl children per family can receive the scholarship.
• Annual family income must not exceed ₹8 lakh.
• A valid income certificate issued by the State or Union Territory Government must be provided.

Scholarship Amount for Diploma Courses

Selected students will receive ₹50,000 per year.

The scholarship is available for:

• Up to three years for first-year diploma students.
• Up to two years for students admitted through lateral entry in the second year.

The scholarship can be used for college fees and educational expenses including computers, books, stationery, equipment and software.

5,000 Scholarships Available Under Each Scheme

AICTE has earmarked 5,000 scholarships per year under both the degree and diploma schemes. The scholarships are distributed among States and Union Territories according to the prescribed allocation.

If sufficient applications are not received under one scheme, the available scholarships may be transferred to the other Pragati scholarship scheme.

Students from Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu, Lakshadweep, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim and Tripura are eligible for scholarships beyond the 5,000-scholarship allocation, subject to the scheme's eligibility conditions.

How to Apply for AICTE Pragati Scholarship 2026

Eligible candidates must apply online through the National Scholarship Portal (NSP) after the application process is initiated and the relevant notice is issued.

The application process involves three levels of verification:

1. The student submits the scholarship application through NSP.
2. The student's host institution verifies the application.
3. The Department of Technical Education of the respective State or Union Territory carries out the second-level verification.

After selection, the scholarship amount will be transferred to eligible awardees through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) on an annual basis.

Selection Criteria

Selection for the Pragati Scholarship is based on the merit of the qualifying examination.

For degree-level courses, merit is determined on the basis of marks obtained in the Class 12 or equivalent examination.

For diploma-level courses, selection is based on marks obtained in the Class 10 or equivalent examination.

AICTE will prepare separate State/UT-wise merit lists according to the number of scholarships allocated to each State or Union Territory.

Eligible girl students who have not yet applied should complete their applications through the National Scholarship Portal by October 31, 2026.
